Dear family,
Last night our Ward got invited to an interfaith choir thing that had
like ten churches sing. It was at a baptist church which was kinda
cool. I think that was the first time I've gone to another church
before. Praise the lord! So that turned out to be actually pretty fun.
Johns baptism is Saturday, which I'm really excited about. So more
about elder Tesch he is from Eden Utah. He played basketball football
and track in high school. He has a football scholarship when he gets
back to play at weber state. Things are a little slow in the area. We
don't really have any consistent investigators except for one family.
Not too much to Talk about this week. Today we're playing ball at the
stake center. Elder Oyler and elder Mathews are here. Love you all

Dear Family,
So Monday through Wednesday I tried to say goodbye to some of the families that were in the Potomac crossing Ward. Sister Anderson took us out to lunch since me and Elder Mathews were leaving for sure. I loved the ward but I was ready for a change. Tuesday night I was up till 1am getting packed up for transfers and then I got up at 6am because Elder Ames had to be there early for a training meeting. So we drove down to Centre ville for the meeting. It was a whopping 8 degrees that morning. Recently it has been so cold here.
Anyways so as I was going into the transfer meeting I was dreaming of what 3 things I wanted to happen...... 1) I was hoping to serve in Mount Vernon because I thought it was a cool area when I was there for a baptism. 2) I was hoping to be In the same zone as Elder Mathews or Elder Oyler. 3) and lastly I wanted to get a cool companion.
What sweet, sweet music it was to my ears when I heard that I was going to be serving in the Mount Vernon Ward, and that my new companion was Elder Tesch (he's a big dude and he got some scholarships to play football after his mission, he's yoked out of his mind and is super cool), also Elder Mathews was called to be in the same zone as me which is the same zone that Elder Oyler is in.... So I got literally everything I was ever dreaming of. I've got a cool companion and I'm around some of my favorites missionaries in the mission; Elder Mathews and Elder Oyler, and I'm in the area that I wanted to be in...... I guess this is my reward for trying my best to love Elder Ames.
I will send some pictures of John and Bahars family. And also the Addae family. Dad asked how John and Bahar are doing.... So Elder Ames messaged me and told me that they are still doing good. John is the one getting baptized on the 24th and Bahar is already a member. I guess their daughter Tatia who is 13 is also on date now for baptism also. I will be up here hopefully for the baptism. For pday today we are just playing ball at the gym as usual. We went to chipotle for lunch.
Also you can send the package now.
Love you all elder frew

Elder Frew with John and Bahar Family
This week we have transfers on Thursday. The calls will come in
tonight telling us who is going to be transferred. John and Bahar came
again to church this week for the fourth time. They stayed for 2 hours
too. Elder Ames and i taught the gospel principles class the second
hour. Her and John are making some serious changes in their life. We
have another lesson with them tonight on the word of wisdom. They are
still on fire. For New Year's Eve we got to watch two movies. I
rallied all the elders to watch space jam. The sisters were kinda
ticked but it made my night to watch it. We also watched how to train
your dragon two. Today for pday we're having a nerd war as our zone
activity. Things are going good. Nothing too exciting is happening.
Basically just getting ready for transfers. Talk to you next week

Our visit last week to Washington, visiting all the monuments
Hey family,
It was fun to talk to you guys this week. I got Karli Christmas package this week also. John and Bahar came again to church this week with all their kids too. Bahar had work, but John wanted to stay for all three meetings. He said he really liked them. He and his family are doing well. John is progressing toward his baptismal date for January 24th. He's a very cool guy. He's very excited about being baptized. The day after Christmas we had a 1/2 mission conference which was really good. I'm still sick unfortunately so it was hard for me to enjoy it. This Sunday we also got a new ward mission leader which is good because the one before wasn't...he just wasn't aggressive I guess. I sent you the pictures of our trip to the monuments. That was a lot of fun. I pretty much told you everything that's been going on when I skyped you. I sent our Christmas dunk fest videos to the boys. Till next week.
Love,
Elder Frew

Washington DC South Mission: Week 18- December 22, 2014
Dear family,
We had a good week. Last Sunday John and Bahar came to church. Bahar
is a less active member who hasn't been to church since high school.
And John is not a member. They both loved last week and brought the
rest of their family this Sunday too. But we went by there house this
week to have a lesson with them for the first time and actually taught
one of the 5 lessons. We said a prayer before because we weren't
exactly sure what we should teach but we planned on the restoration
unless we felt we should teach something else. That was by the far the
best lesson that we've had since I've been here. We went through the
lesson and it was so amazing. As we taught the spirit was extremely
strong. John started crying during the lesson which was pretty cool.
And said it was amazing. We then put him on date to be baptized on the
25th of January!!! Unfortunately I will be transferred on the 8th so I
won't be in leesburg anymore probably. But I should still be able to
come to his baptism assuming he goes through with it. John is very
cool. Growing up he went to the baptist church every now and then. Yes
he's black. And Bahar was baptized at 13 and went to seminary and
stuff then went inactive at 19. She is part Afghan. They have two
daughters. One is named Tatia who is 13 and another girl who is about
1 year old. We have another lesson with them tonight too. Pray for
this family, please.
Right now I'm sitting on the metro heading in to DC. It's very cold
today. I love going into the city. It has such a cool atmosphere
about it. I'm glad that I get to go and visit here every transfer. I
think that we are going to go to the Lincoln memorial today along with
a few other memorials. I should have some good pictures to send to you
next week.
I will be calling on Wednesday sometime to set up the time and
everything for when I'm going to skype you guys on Christmas. So I
would just be ready for that. I also got your package that you sent
me. I was able to restrain myself and not open them up early.
Also I sent my Christmas package home to you guys. You should open it
on Christmas Eve. It should already be there. But just let me know
that you guys already got it.
I'll send my dc pics next week

WARD AND MISSIONARY CHRISTMAS PARTY-LEESBURG, VA.
So I got your package in the mail this week. Thank you for all the
food. And cards.... However, I thought you would know me better than to
trust me opening just one present a day. I didn't want wait to open a
gift just one at a time. So I opened the box and I just opened up all
the presents at once. Sorry if I ruined your 12 days of Christmas but
you know that is something that I would do. I was able to control
myself on the cards though. I'm a few days ahead though already. But
thanks for the package.
This week we had interviews with President Riggs as we usually do
every other transfer. Elder Ames went first and told him that we
hadn't been getting along. I usually would try and talk to him the
least amount as possible. When I went in for the interview he asked me
about how the companionship was doing. I told him that Elder Ames and
I have very different personalities, and we do things very different
ways. He asked if there was anything he could do to help us. I asked
"how do you cope with an annoying companion"? He said that you don't
cope with him.....he gave a mission wide talk about having charity and
not being" in a box toward people". He said a lot of things to me that
really affected me. We talked for a half- hour and we were only suppose
to go for ten or fifteen minutes. I also told him how I was frustrated with
the lack of success that I've had. He gave me a promise that if I had
charity towards Elder Ames and didn't just get cope with him till the end of
the transfer that I would have success.
After the meeting we went back to the apartment and sat on the bed
thinking about what choice I was going to make. I really just wanted
to cope with Ames and wait till I got a new companion. I was on my bed
pretty ticked off that I was stuck in this situation for another
month. I sat and really didn't want to try and make this work with
Elder Ames. But as I was sitting on the bed I watched a bible video that is
in the gospel library. The video is of Christ getting scourged and
crucified. After watching that I knew what my decision needed to be.
I got up and went out of the room and started getting ready to go to
an appointment we had. Before I opened the door to the leave I
apologized to Elder Ames for being so annoyed with him and for trying to
ignore him. He accepted it and apologized as well. We went to Taco
Bell where we were meeting a member for a lesson. I walked in and to
ease my pain I ordered a burrito since the member wasn't there yet. A
worker there was on break and reading the bible. I didn't even start
the conversation he just said hi and introduced himself and asked if I
could answer some of the questions he had. (I was just like what the
heck is going on) as I'm answering his questions, giving him a b.o.m,
and starting to begin teaching, and other worker walks up to Elder Ames and
asks him some questions about the 12 tribes of Israel which was kinda weird.
Anyways after talking for a while we reschedule for a couple days
later and left. When went went back we taught him basically all of
the first two lessons.(this is inside Taco Bell both times). Also a
less active lady named Bahar came to Church this Sunday with her
non-member husband. She had two kids, one of them being 13 and not
baptized yet.
Since President Riggs interview things have been going a lot better. I
still have to exhort so much energy in not being annoyed with Elder Ames but
things overall are a lot better. Pres. Riggs said it was going to be
extremely hard also.........this week we also had our Ward party along
with our mission party. The mission party was sweet. I got to see Elder
Oyler again which was awesome along with the elders who came out with
me. For the Ward party the 4 elders in the Ward bought Christmas
cardigans to wear. The only problem was was that Walmart didn't have
men's cardigans so we had to buy women's. I will send you he pictures.
I'm looking forward to talking to everyone at Christmas.
Love you all Elder Frew
