Washington DC South Mission: December 21, 2015: Week 70

Hey family,
So this week we had lots of meetings. On Thursday we had interviews with President Huntsman from 830 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon. When someone was with President Huntsman, Elder Brooksby and I evaluated the other companions on how well they taught the first lesson. We did get to go to lunch with President which was nice along with the AP's. On Friday we had our whole mission conference which was really good. It was sad thinking that it was my last one. Then Saturday we had our ward Christmas party where some a nonmember family came and we should be able to have a lesson soon with them. We went to see the temple lights with Sanjay this week and also went to a Christmas concert yesterday which was really good. I'm looking forward to skyping everyone in a few days. I will call sometime before to set things up.I got both packages this week. Thanks alot for the blender. Sorry i couldn't wait to open the packages.  I did save a few presents with the BYU wrapping on it though. Well. Love you all,

Washington DC South Mission: December 14, 2015 Week 69

Elder Severe, Elder Anderson and Sanjay

Hey family,

So Wednesday night we went over to Sanjays so Elder Severe and Elder Anderson could say goodbye before they got transferred. We ended up going to the cheesecake factory and getting some desert for their going away present. Then we came back Sanjay gave us all presents. Elder Severe got a shirt, Elder Anderson a watch, and I got a really nice pair of brown dress shoes. Anyways then Thursday was transfers. Elder Severe and Elder Anderson are still companions but are just in a new area. This will be their third transfer together.

My new companion is Elder Brooksby from Cache Valley Utah. So this week we have a lot of good stuff going on. We have interviews, our ward Christmas party, our whole mission conference, and a Christmas concert. I'm glad we've got so much going on because I really miss the family and my old companions. So I'm really excited to skype everyone.

If you haven.t sent a package yet, i could use some miralax along with some gold toe socks, and just one merona long sleeve shirt(just one that's all)... For Christmas eve Sister Anderson in the Potomac crossing ward is going to have me over again so it will be back to back years having Christmas eve at her house which I'm really excited for. They had a wonderful feast last year with pretty much anything you could think of. It will be great.

Our teaching pool as of right now is still just a lot of potential. Hopefully things go as planned with the families that we should be teaching within the next few weeks. Wesley didn't come to church and its been almost a week since we've met which makes me concerned. Pray for him along with Sol, Presslyn, Abby, and the Lee family.

love you all and talk to you soon

Washington DC South Mission: Week 68: December 7, 2015

Hey family,
So to answer dads question about if we had any investigators at church
this week the answer is yes. A guy named Wesley came to church for the
first hour and then had to leave early because he invited friends to
his other church. We've met with him about 4 times already. It's good
to have some we can meet with consistently now. He's a retired marine
and was also in the Air Force. He played football Bowie state
(Maryland) in college. We also had a lesson with a Puerto Rican lady
this week who has a couple of kids at home. We also found out that
there's 2 families that we are going to start teaching. We've been
doing a lot of member work and are seeing some fruits from it now. Our
zone also lead the mission in baptisms this transfer which was pretty
sweet. Transfers are on Thursday. Elder Anderson and Elder Severe
are going to go more than likely and I will stay here in Ashburn. We
should see some success while I'm here. The work is starting to get hot here.
Today we got  a Tour of the pentagon from a member in our Ward. After
our tour we went to the pentagon city mall and I got a nice hoodie. So
don't send me a sweatshirt for Christmas. It was pretty good pday but
I'm very tired from walking around. I'm looking forward to skyping
everyone  in a few weeks.

Also last Monday I got a pair of Nike frees for 30 bucks a the Nike
outlet, saved over a hundred bucks.
Love Logan

Also for my package can you send some gold toe socks?

Washington DC South Mission: Week 67: November 30, 2015

Hey family,

Things actually went really good for us here in the Ashburn Ward this
week. After having taught zero lessons last week and not really having
anyone to work with we had a lot happen in just the last few
days. We were able to pick up a single guy named Wesley who played
football at Bowie state and is super excited, a single mom and her 3
triplets that are in high school(from Puerto Rico), and we also had
dinner with a  family in our Ward who invited a non-member family over
and they said they would listen to the discussions. The work has made
a 180 degree turn here. Hopefully it won't be long before we can have
a baptism. It's been since about 9 months already since I've had one.
And we've got some good prospects to get a few.

The ward has been good about trying to help us out in our missionary
work. We've gotten referrals from them and they are always giving us
food and stuff. They really like us a lot. The missionaries before we
were here literally didn't do anything and the ward knew so it's been
good to see the ward start actually trusting us. Although we only had
one dinner for thanksgiving which was unusual considering most
elders have tons of meals on thanksgiving.

We had a super fun turkey bowl In the morning. Lots of members came
out and played, enough for two adult games and 1 kids game. We got
haircuts this week. Transfers are on December 10th.  I'm almost 100%
positive I'm staying, but the other two guys will leave.

Looking forward to sky ping everyone on Christmas.
Love Logan

Washington DC South Mission: Week 66: November 23, 2015

Hey family,

The BYU application said I should know by February or March I'm pretty
sure. Hopefully all goes well there. I did get Uncle Dick and Aunt Melinda's

gift card too a little while back and I got my gobbler you sent me too.
My companions are really sick of it already. (It gobbles and sings Christmas songs)

So this week was really slow. We didn't teach any lessons.
And we did two exchanges with people in our zone.
Today for pday we went shopping and I bought a pair of slacks. Now
we're playing basketball with another zone that's close by. Transfers
are on December 10th. I will more than likely stay and my two
companions will go somewhere. We went out to eat at a sushi restaurant
with Sanjay after we helped me put up his Christmas tree. Sorry not
much happened this week. With thanksgiving Thursday I should have a
lot more to talk about.

Love you all.

Ps I miss my siblings too

And for my package you can send some gold toe socks, miralax, jerky,
and whatever you think I would like. Just not sweets or anything

Washington DC South Mission: Week 65: November 16, 2015

Hey family,

So we went and did temple work with Sanjay the recent convert who
helped me with my essay on Tuesday which was really cool. He did his
dad's name. We also went out to Chinese food afterwards.

This week we taught Abbey who was the girl we found last week.
For pday today were playing football. We set up a zone finding feast this
week in the afternoon. We had Sanjay come and talk to us before we
went out and tried to find people to teach. The three of us also made
a video to motivate the elders and sisters in our zone using the video
app on our iPad. We had a clips and then we played them as a slide show.
Ryan would be proud of my movie. I'm going to try and send it as one
video so you can see it.

I also found out that Elder Anderson loves George of the Jungle too.
So we've been quoting it all the time ha ha.

 See ya next week

Love elder frew

Washington DC South: Week 64: November 9, 2015

Hey Family;

So as you know already we got dropped by our only two progressing
investigators so as of right now we don't have any. Although we did
have a cool experience. So we went to an apartment complex
to tract and we usually start from the top and work our way down, but
as we were going up the steps I felt like we start at the bottom
rather than the normal top. We knocked a few doors and then heard
someone walking down the stairs so I immediately stopped to go talk to
them and this girl was in a rush to get to her car but said to try
again later. She drove off then two minutes later came back and said
her thing got canceled and that we could come by later in the day. We
ended up going back and teaching her the entire restoration and she
had good questions along with her 3 friends too from Maryland. She
didn't come to church but we would have never gotten in if we started
knocking the top first.

We also did our zone conference this week where president and the APs
come and teach for like the whole day, then afterwards I went on an
exchange with Elder Rice the ap. He was the first person I went on
exchange with while I was in Potomac crossing. I also got to see a lot
members from Potomac crossing at a stake priesthood meeting yesterday.
Today for pday we went to the vitamin shop and now we're going to
play ball at the Church.

Also to answer some of your questions the guy from BYU is serving in
the neighboring Ward which is pretty cool. And I see Elder Tesch a lot
because he's an office elder so about once a week we see him when we
go get supplies for the zone. He lives with the APs too see him on
exchanges too.

Love you all,
Elder Frew

Washington DC South Mission: Week 63: November 5, 2015

Farewell Elder Oyler, my trainer is done with his mission and heading home!
Beautiful season here in Virgina, colors are amazing!

Hey family,
So on Monday we had a half mission conference where Elder Perkins of
the 70's came and spoke to us for most of the day. It was good. I've
already heard from him before last time he came to our mission but it
was still good. The whole mission ended up moving their pday to today but
next Monday it will be back to normal. Yesterday we had our mission
leadership council which was pretty good. But we have some sort of
meeting literally everyday this week.

Also we had a lesson with Chris and Mellisa and they don't want to be
baptized anymore. So we officially have 0 investigators now. We asked
them to pray about if their decision was right but it doesn't look
super good right now. So that was a little disappointing. I was able
to finish my BYU essay though which was big stress reliever.  Sanjay
helped a ton editing them and giving me ideas on what I should write
about. He was on the Pen state admissions staff so he would review
essays on applications to there all the time.

Elder Oyler (my trainer)  went home last week which was really sad. I really am
going to miss him a lot. Thanks for sending me all the Halloween
photos; Ryan and Daniels were the best, and Ofelia's was the cutest.
This week we went to our wards trunk or treat and there was a lot of
non members there. Although that doesn't always mean they are interested.

Washington DC South: Week 62: October 26, 2015w

Hi Family,

I wrote a letter and then it got deleted. Sorry. We rode out
bikes 30 miles to DC today and got free tickets to the tops of the
Washington monument... My legs cramped up once we got into DC. Sorry.
It's late, but here's pictures.

Washington DC Mission: Week 61- October 19, 2015

Austyns Baptism
My Trainer: Elder Oyler and I reunited for lunch
Hey family,
What was everyone's reaction to Dan going to Atlanta? (Daniel Frew received his mission call to: Atlanta Georgia North Mission: January 20th)
That's really close to where Derek and holli isn't it?  I really didn't think he was going to stay in the states.

So this weekend I went down to Mount Vernon and saw Tony Clements baptize his daughter Austyn. It was really good to go back and see all the ward memebers and just being in the area. Elder Oyler is serving there too, so we got to go to lunch with him before the baptism.

Chris and Mellisa came to church again for the fourth time counting conference. Chris probably won't be able go get baptized anytime soon  because of legal issues but he would be as soon as it gets cleared up. Melissa also is ready to be baptized. Except she wanted to do it the same day as Chris but that would be way down the road. We really want her to get baptized first so that she can encourage and give him motivation for when he gets cleared. We were able to find a super good family to fellowship them though. The family has a band and Chris and Mellisa are hard core rock lovers and players. Other than that we didn't have too much going on. We really need to go find more people other than Chris and Mellisa to work with.

I've got two of the essay done already and im working on the third. Sanjay has been helping me out alot which is great. Were probably going to play some golf this afternoon and then go to some outlet malls in Lessburg for our PDay activity.

Washington DC South Mission: Week 60: October 12, 2015

Hi Family;

I don't have a lot of time to write today. We went fishing this
morning and I got a good bass. But other than that all I got was a
bunch of moss.

Chris and Mellisa came to church along with a few other
less actives that we've been working with. Chris and Mellisa are going
through some rough patches. Trying to quit a few addictions.

We had a really crappy day this week. We did a church swap with a
potential investigator on Saturday. We showed up after driving 25
miles one way and his stupid pastor wouldn't  let us in. He railed on us
for being false prophets. I guess according to him the sabbath is
suppose to be Saturday and not Sunday. I was super ticked. I didn't
handle the situation very well so I felt bad about that mostly, but it
also wasted a lot of our time and miles.

Read Romans 12:4 (For as we have many members in one body, and
all members have not the same office)  I should have been better ha ha.

Also thank you for the two packages. Unfortunately I ate the 5 packs
of beef jerky already. I guess Russia is where Dano is going on his mission.

Washington DC South Mission: Week 59: October 5, 2015

Fun Pday catching some fish

Conference with Chris and Melissa our investigators
Hey family,

So we had a really good week here in Ashburn. I've been thinking recently how blessed I am to be able to serve on a mission here in DC. I have  a really nice apartment, car, and gym to workout in...I have a really good companion, we have two super solid progressing investigators, the ward is awesome. I'm around other missionaries that are really cool and fun to work with. The list goes on and on. As much as I've wanted for my mission to go by fast and be over, I've thought about how sad it's going to be for me when I have to give it all up and go back to normal life. The experiences that I've had and the relationships I've had are priceless. Ya sometimes its really hard but its also extremely rewarding.

So about the week. I don't know if we told you about Chris and Mellisa yet. So last week we had a referral in the area book for them so we stopped by. They let us right in and said we could come back. Long story short we've had like 8 lessons with them in the last 10 days or so. Teaching them the the first 3 lessons and reading the B.O.M with them too. They are really wanting to be baptized but need to overcome somethings first.

We watched conference with them in their really nice theatre room. Chris is a hard core rocker ha ha. Literally. I guess he is in a punk rock band and Mellisa loves that stuff too. They are engaged right now and are wanting to live the Mormon lifestyle after seeing the downsides to a worldly lifestyle. Chris has had alot of LDS involvement with EFY in Cape Verde. That's a little about them. Chris came to church last week and Mellisa is coming next Sunday. She is already trying to get work off on Sundays too(we had not even said anything about it yet).

Chris was praying one night for something he could rely on and a week later we ended up knocking on his door. There's other cool things that have happened but I can't really remember right now. All you need to know is that they are super solid and super cool.

We also had MLC this week which is the mission leadership council.

Washington DC South Mission: Week 58: September 28, 2015

I finally caught a fish here dad! Cute little fellow
Here's our new wheels, no more bikes for a while
Our new threesome companionship
My birthday Celebration! loved it!

So Ashburn has been great area. This week Sister Anderson from Potomac
crossing ward took us out to lunch at light foots. We also had dinner with
the Caninganis who are in Goose Creek the neighboring Ward.... We also
got set up big time this week. So we had a Referral from some elders to
try a guy named Shaun. We text ed him and he gave us an address to to
come by and have a lesson. So we plug the address in and it's in some
rehab facility. We showed up and met the guy. He was like 20 and pretty
different. He told us his church service was going on right now but we
could talk afterward. So after the service was over everyone in his
congregation came and questioned us. It wasn't too bad. They kinda
just wasted are night. We did get a few people who were actually
interest though ha ha. Afterward the guy was like "I hope you don't
feel like I set you up". They did invite us back. So we're going to go
 back just to recruit people.

Anyways we did find some super solid people this week. We found a
couple named Chris and Melissa. He's 20 and she's 18. They're engaged
and have kind of had some rough years behind them... So we had two
lessons with them this week and Chris came to church! It was my first
person at sacrament meeting in over 4 and half months. So we should be
able to work with them. It's so nice to have someone solid to work
with. We also found some other good people that seem to have some good

We've had some funnies stories already with new threesome companionship. Elder
Anderson sprayed
cologne in my eyes on accident this week. He's smashed the car door
into 3 card doors already, and a
shopping cart holder. But it's all good. Today
for pday we played football.

Washington DC South Mission: Week 57: September 21,2015

Hey family,

So transfers were this week, and I got what I wanted for

my birthday. I'm finally out of Burke and back up in Loudon county.
I'm now serving in the Ashburn Ward with Elder Severe and Elder
Anderson. Elder Severe and I are the Zone leaders for the Ashburn zone
which is pretty cool. We have a nice Subaru and a legit apartment
complex. We will more than likely stay at  together for at least two transfers.
I got to see some people from my old ward in Potomac Crossing already.

Which has been sweet. Elder severe is awesome.

There are three of us here in Ashburn because President Huntsman didn't
want to white wash( two new elders in an area) so Elder Anderson
stayed. But really  alot of other elders that have been here have
literally done nothing. The people in the area haven't been contacted
in months. So we are pretty much starting from scratch here.
But it's good because Elder Severe and I can get the area back in shape.
Elder Severe is a really good missionary to. I'm super excited to be his companion.

My birthday was kinda lame. Elder Severe made me pancakes which was nice and
I got a bunch of phone calls from people calling and singing happy birthday.
But two members from my old ward are going to have me over this week to celebrate.

When we first came into the apartment the place was a wreck. We literally threw
bags and bags of trash and crap away. It was pretty ridiculous because it's the

nicest apartment in the mission. But we cleaned it up and threw all the garbage
out so now it's not bad at all. I'm really excited to be in the Ashburn Ward. The members
seem really good and I think we should have a lot of success while

we're here. I haven't gotten any birthday gifts yet. But if you are sending something for my bday
I need some gift cards. I ran out of money the second week of the Month. So I've been
scraping the bottom of the barrel. So that be nice.

 Love Elder Frew

Monday, September 14, 2015

Hey family,

This week is transfer week. After talking with President Huntsman at church Sunday it sounds that I'm probably going to leave Burke finally. I pretty much told the Zls, APs, and President that I needed out of Burke. It will be a good thing for me to leave. I have no faith in the area and I didn't like it here. Elder Burleson has a good chance of training when I leave even though he's only been here for 6 weeks. He's ready for it. He's a really good missionary. I really didn't even have to do anything. I probably learned more from him too.

Today for pday we are going into DC for a little bit. We got a car to use just for the week until transfers come and then we have to give it back. I don't really care though because I'm leaving the area. I went on exchanges with the APs which was a lot of fun. We went street contacting at George Mason University.

Yesterday we worked at a booth for the Burke center festival. It was a little family history booth that we just talked to people about if they were interested in. It was actually pretty fun. It was a super nice day and it was good to have a change of pace. There were a bunch of mascot costumes of cartoons like sponge bob and the ninja turtles. I was only able to get a picture with he George Mason Mascot unfortunately.

Next week I should have a new area and a new companion which will be good for me. It's really weird that I'm already 20. It kind of scares me. I'm already like 1/4 done with my life. If you want to send some stuff for my bday you can send jerky and gift cards. I have 11 dollars to live off for the next month because I spent 60 bucks on protein and somehow, blew it all in less than two weeks. Just send healthy stuff.

Love you all.

Washington DC South Mission: Week 55: September 7, 2015

We did service at the Old Railroad Museum, replacing rail ties.
Dear Family,

We went golfing today with Warren Cheek, who's a non-Member. Last week we
went fishing with him too, which was really good. We just went to the driving
range and did a little bit of putting. He's a super nice guy and
really likes doing stuff with us. All of his kids are grown.

We had a couple of lessons this week with people, but they weren't promising at
all. We talked with a cool Muslim guy one night and we set up a church
swap. So we're going to try and go to a mosque soon. I have grown to
have a lot of respect for the Muslim people here. Although there is
almost no chance of converting them. They always are nice and a lot
better people than most Christians are who claim to believe in Christ.

We had an exchange with the zone leaders which was a lot fun. The zone
leaders are really cool. Today for pday after we went golfing Warren then he
took us to max muscle where we got some protein. Then shopping and to
the church for basketball. So a pretty good pday. Tonight we probably
will have two lessons. So hopefully those go well.

This week we also did service for an old railroad museum place moving railroad ties.

Love Elder Frew
