Washington DC South Mission: Week 10- October 27, 2014

October 27, 2014 : Week 10 : Leesburg, VA

Dear Family
I forgot did Teresa our hairdresser ever come to church with you guys?

------also if you guys send another package will you please buy me the
"brave heart movie soundtrack"----------or if Derek can find a way to
get the music from the movie that would be great!!!!! (Read this)don't
send sweets in the package. We get a lot of it. Beef jerky is good.
My address is still the same 92 heritage way #206

Monday we played bball for pday as usually. Tuesday we I went on
exchange with Elder Morris. He came to my area so I took the lead on
where we should go and what not for the first time which was cool.
Friday We had zone conference except I  threw up 3 times the night
before so we didn't go. Elder Oyler and I are going to another zone
Conference another time soon though. I'm feeling better though. I was
only sick for a day really. It wasn't anything too serious... As the
work goes things haven't been to hot. Those two progressing
investigators we had on date for baptism this month are not interested
anymore. They thought that we were coming over too much and what not.
And we haven't been able to teach them in a long time, probably 3 or 4
weeks. So now we don't really have anyone to teach. I don't understand
what's going on with them. They would always say how much they liked
our church and how they liked ours better than the Catholic Church.
But Elder Oyler was reading her Facebook posts and she said how we were
ticked her off and that she said that she was raised catholic and so
it makes sense to stay. So we think things don't look good for those two.

This week President Riggs had a mission wide call in conference.
President Riggs was just going off on the elders. Their has been a lot
of disobedience going on with the elder missionaries, so that
happened.Other than that I don't have too much to say.

Happy birthday to the following: Daniel frew, Penelope frew, and Holli frew

Washington DC South Mission- Week 8- October 13, 2014

Washington DC Temple: Elder Frew & Elder Sanders

 ZONE CONFERENCE

LEESBURG, VA.

Hey everyone,
This week was a weird week. We had our pday on Tuesdays because of a
driving test on Monday and we also had a transfer meeting. At the
meeting we watched the new movie "Meet the Mormons". You guys have
probably heard of that. This week was a pretty slow week. My companion,
Elder Oyler was sick for a couple of days so on top of meetings and him being sick
we didn't do a whole lot. Our investigators are sick too so we didn't really do
very much teaching today. One of the Elders who
was in our Ward
got transferred. Last pday we went to a couple of

thrift stores and I got a pair of Arkansas razorback basketball
shorts.... That story about the skunk was really funny. How did you
get rid of the stinky fella? I already have Johnson's email. I was
able to talk to him a little bit last week. And I'm still at the same
address, I will tell you guys in advance if I do end up getting moved
to another area. We get fed really well in the area I'm serving in.
I was able to hear about Chancey this week. I'm glad that I was not the
only one thinking those same thoughts but I pretty sure everyone feels
like that at some point. Hopefully he is doing a lot better though.
The weather is continuing to get colder. Last week I got a coat from
Ross for 40 bucks for when it starts snowing. Everyone is saying how
bad this winter is going to be. I heard it was pretty cold last winter
and this one is suppose to be even worse....I was able to get some 20
pound Dumbbells from a lady in our Ward so now I don't have to use the
couch or curl the 12 pounds 300 times ha ha. Most apartments here have
a gym for people to use but ours doesn't which really stinks.... There
are a bunch of groundhogs here I will try and send a picture of one. I
always think of of the movie "Ground Hog Day" when I see them.

Today we went to the DC temple really early in the morning. I went
with Elder Sanders and a member in their ward because Elder Oyler had
already gone in the last 6 months. Last night the elders who we
switched companions with got there car towed ,so we had to go get it
last night... we didn't end up getting to bed until like 2 am  in the
morning. I probably got less than 3 hours of sleep last night. The
temple here in DC is very beautiful though. It was well worth the
drive and the lack of sleep. I always feel so relaxed after going
through a session now. It was much needed too.

Hope everyone is doing good back home.
Love elder frew

Washington DC South- Week 7- October 6, 2014

Elder Frew soaking in General Conference

So like I said last Monday we went into the city to visit the
holocaust museum. Then on Tuesday we went on exchanges again. I went
with my district leader elder Mathews. That was by far the best
exchange of the ones that I've gone on so far. Elder Mathew's is  really funny. This
week we also taught Randy and Tina. She told us last night that she
has stopped smoking cigarettes. Which was really good because we
haven't even taught her the word of wisdom yet, and that would be the
only thing holding her back from being baptized. Her son Randy also
came with us to the priesthood session of conference with us and he
really liked it. I was kinda surprised that he liked it so much actually....

I have always like general conference because we were able
to stay home and play monopoly while watching it but  I always found it kinda
boring. But this conference I actually enjoyed watching it even though
I still had to get dressed up. I really liked that one guys talk
(klebingat or something). We watched the morning session at the church
and then the later one at a members home. During the Sunday session I
fell asleep during the women speaker and my companion got a picture of it.
Other than that I was awake and alert the whole time ha ha

The last few days here have been pretty cold here. Thanks for sending me sweats,
gloves and those wool socks. I will probably try and get a winter coat
sometime soon because the cold weather is getting close. I sent a
letter in the mail a few days ago. Let me know when it gets to you.
I'm doing good out here though. I actually have been starting to have
some fun also.

Since I wrote a letter this week you guys don't get as long an email.
Love you all
Elder Frew

Letter 2-via snail mail

Dear Mom and Dad,

I thought that I would start off by thanking you for all that you have ever done for me. More
specifically I wanted to make sure I thanked you for paying for my college term this summer at
BYU. I don't ever remember actually telling you thank you for it, I'm sorry I didn't do it in person while
I was still home.

This week for P-day, we went to the Holocaust museum in Washington DC. It was very sad, but very interesting to me. It was cool to get to go into the actual city of DC.

I'm  starting to get used to the missionary life and actually having some fun. This Tuesday, I went on exchanges with my district leader Elder Mathews and it was by far the best exchange I've had so far. I really like everyone in our zone. Some of the Elders have told me that its not too often to  have a zone as good as the one I'm in now. This will be the last full week of this transfer. This transfer was only 5 weeks long instead of 6. I'm pretty sure that I will be in this same area for at least another 2. If you guys want to send another care package I will leave you with a list of ideas on the back of this letter.

Any news flash from the family? Things out here are pretty good. sometimes its really hard, but I think I"m doing pretty well.I am trying to work hard and be obedient. Sometimes I just don't have the motivation. I try and get a little better everyday. Thanks again for everything you both have done for me and all the help you have given me on getting me out here.

I love you both,

Elder Frew
